2024 Honda Accord hybrid confirmed for Australia, months away from showrooms

The new 2024 Honda Accord is due in Australian showrooms by the middle of this year as a single, top-of-the-range hybrid variant.

Due between April and June 2024, the new Accord is an overhaul of its predecessor – with a new body over updated underpinnings – and will be sold only as a hybrid, with no more entry-level petrol variant.

It is despite being outsold 73 to one by the Toyota Camry last year, with just 144 Accords reported as sold across Australia – or between one and two cars per Honda dealership.

Prices are yet to be revealed, however an increase is expected over the $61,900 drive-away for the hybrid – or $57,900 drive-away for the petrol.

The new Accord will be available in a single, flagship e:HEV RS hybrid model, offered in Platinum White, Lunar Silver, Meteoroid Grey and Crystal Black colours.

It will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and dual electric motors, which develops 152kW in overseas models.

Oddly Honda Australia says the Accord's hybrid system is shared with the CR-V hybrid, which develops 135kW from the 2.0-litre engine and dual motors.

Available features in the Accord overseas include a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen – the largest in a global-market Honda, incorporating Google software, downloadable over-the-air software updates, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – and a 10.2-inch digital instrument display.

There is also a so-called ‘Experience Selection Dial’ – a customisable dial for controlling infotainment functions – and a push-button gear selector similar to other Honda hybrids, rather than a traditional gear stick.

More details are due closer to the Australian launch of the 2024 Honda Accord, due between April and June this year.
