2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray hybrid teased ahead of January 17 launch

The Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray hybrid is set to be revealed next week, becoming the first all-wheel-drive variant in the nameplate’s 70-year history.

The first-ever Chevrolet Corvette hybrid is due to be unveiled next week, with US car giant General Motors confirming the covers will come off the ‘E-Ray’ on January 17.

First teased by Chevrolet in April 2022, the Corvette E-Ray was leaked from within General Motors on its online configurator last month – wearing bodywork from the high-powered Z06, although without the supercar’s front and rear wings.

In a video uploaded to social media platform Facebook overnight, Chevrolet teased the Corvette E-Ray’s petrol engine and electric motor combination – becoming the first all-wheel-drive variant in the nameplate’s 70-year, eight-generation history.

The Corvette E-Ray’s rear wheels are understood to be powered by the sports car’s existing 6.2-litre V8 petrol engine, while a pair of electric motors will drive the front wheels.

Chevrolet’s teaser video shows the Corvette E-Ray will incorporate a ‘Stealth’ driving mode, turning off the V8 engine and allowing it to drive exclusively using its electric motors and battery.

As previously reported, Chevrolet is expected to launch a sub-brand of battery-powered Corvette models in 2025, with overseas reports suggesting a four-door and SUV could be included.
