2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300: Some cars might arrive by Christmas

Buyers with pre-orders could take delivery of the new Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series locally before summer – if shipments arrive in time.

Toyota Australia is hopeful the first shipments of the 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series could arrive in time for the summer holidays.

The revelation by Toyota Australia sales and marketing boss Sean Hanley comes days after the executive warned delays for some models could stretch up to 10 months due to the global semiconductor shortage that has slammed the brakes on the industry.

The 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series – the first all-new model in 14 years – will also be affected by the shortages, with delays of up to 12 months being quoted by dealers.

And while 500 examples of the 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series have landed in Australia, these are earmarked as demonstrator vehicles only and won't be initially available for purchase.

But for a lucky few in Australia, there is a chance Christmas could come early with a new LandCruiser 300 Series in the driveway.

Sean Hanley – head of sales and marketing for Toyota Australia – told Australian motoring media that dealers will continue to take orders, and those demonstrator LandCruisers are currently on their way to dealerships around the country.

"We know that we won’t get any right-hand drive (LandCruisers) out of September or October (from the factory in Japan)," said Mr Hanley.

"We expect to get an update on that situation towards the end of this month, at which time we will update the motoring media and our customers," he said.

"We are taking orders. We are hopeful that will get some right-hand drive LandCruisers in November and December, and we are hopeful that we will have some cars on the road for our customers before Christmas. Particularly, those who were the early adopters and had pre-orders. They will be prioritised by our dealer network.""

Mr Hanley also highlighted the importance of transparency with Toyota's customers during this time.

“We’re in an evolving situation, it’s changing,” he said.

“(The LandCruiser) is such a deeply important car to the Toyota brand. We’ll get LandCruisers, they will come. And we’ll sell a lot of LandCruisers," he said.

"What our dealer network is committed to do, is to tell our customers the truth about our supply situation."
