2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series delayed, new timing unclear
Deliveries of the new Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series have been officially delayed due to new COVID-19 outbreaks in Southeast Asia. Customers are yet to be advised about revised timing.
Toyota Australia has confirmed deliveries of the upcoming 2022 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series have been delayed, as the world's largest car maker falls victim to global semiconductor shortages.
As reported by Drive, Toyota factories in Japan – including the plant responsible for building the new LandCruiser – have been forced to stop production for "part of August and most of September", reportedly as a result of specific semiconductor shortages caused by COVID-19 outbreaks in Southeast Asia.
For this reason, customer deliveries will be pushed back – though by exactly how much is yet to be confirmed. Toyota says dealers will advise customers of updated delivery timing over the coming weeks and months "as global production is confirmed".
A "limited number" of LandCruiser vehicles will be available in showrooms from early October, for use as demonstrator vehicles for customers to get hands on and behind the wheel on test drives (as restrictions allow).
"Toyota Australia is continuing to work closely with our global production team to provide the latest information for dealers and to support our customers," the company said in a statement to media.
"Our dealers are contacting customers who have placed orders for the new LandCruiser 300 to update them on developments regarding their vehicle. Due to this evolving situation, Toyota will continue to provide updates as global production is confirmed.
"Toyota sincerely apologises to customers for any inconvenience caused."
