2022 Chevrolet Corvette: Get in quick, GMSV dealers only getting four cars each
The initial allocation of Chevrolet Corvette in Australia will be extremely limited, and each dealer will only get one Carbon Edition at launch.
The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette will arrive in Australia late this year and early next year initially in extremely limited numbers.
Dealers for the newly-created General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) brand – most of whom are former Holden outlets – have been told they will only receive four cars each in their initial allocation.
More cars will follow in 2022 once next year's right-hand-drive production run gets underway.
As reported earlier this week there will initially be five models in the new Chevrolet Corvette line-up in Australia priced from $145,000 to $175,000 plus on-road costs. Click here for more details.
However, each of the 57 GMSV dealers across Australia will only receive one top-of-the-range Carbon Edition, and the rest will be a mix of the cheaper 2LT and 3LT models.
The exact specification differences across each model are yet to be outlined, however all examples sold in Australia by GMSV will come standard with a performance pack, and technology that lifts the nose of the car at the press of a button at low speeds, to negotiate steep driveways.
The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette will be the first factory-built right-hand-drive model in the nameplate’s 68-year history.
The US-built Corvettes will be sold alongside a revamped Chevrolet Silverado pick-up range, which is converted to right-hand-drive to factory standards by the Walkinshaw Automotive Group in Melbourne, formerly the parent company of Holden Special Vehicles.
