2021 Skoda Octavia RS shown in UK police livery
The next-generation of Skoda's performance sedan is now available to UK police departments.
The 2021 Skoda Octavia RS has been unveiled as a police pursuit vehicle in the UK.
The fourth-generation sedan from Skoda will share its powertrain with the 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTI, but offering buyers a sleek liftback body with hot hatch performance.
Using a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder engine, the RS develops 180kW of power and 370Nm of torque, propelling the Octavia to 100km/h from a standstill in 6.6 seconds through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The Skoda Octavia is a popular police vehicle in Europe, thanks to its rear seat space and on-road dynamics. The Czech car maker also offers the Octavia with a 'police pack' from the factory for approved buyers, with integrated beacon lights fitted around the car, together with a three-tone siren.
While we may not be seeing an Octavia cop car here in Australia, Skoda Australia says the new-generation RS will make its way Down Under in April for civilians to order, together with the standard, non-performance Octavia range (the European line-up pictured below).
