2018 Toyota Kluger Receives Safety Upgrade

Toyota has continued to add advanced safety technology across its SUV range with an upgrade in kit for the 2018 Kluger line-up. The SUV joins the RAV4 and Prado which both gained autonomous emergency braking and other safety assists towards the end of 2017.

Joining the top-spec Grande, which was already fitted with features such as AEB and lane departure warning, both GX and GXL variants have been bolstered with better safety but a rise in price.

New features for the entry-model GX includes autonomous emergency braking with pre-collision alert, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and automatic highbeam assist.

The mid-grade GXL adds to the GX kit with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and rain sensing wipers, while the Grande remains unchanged with its already comprehensive package. 

The additional gear sees both GX and GXL models go up in price by $950 and $1400 respectively. That brings pricing for the front-wheel drive GX model to $44,500 plus on-road costs and the front-driven GXL to $54,950. Adding all-wheel drive costs an additional $4000 and Grande pricing remains unchanged at $65,646. All models are still powered by a 3.5-litre V6 producing 218kW and 250Nm through an eight-speed automatic.
