Audi's all-new 2013 A3 Sportback five-door will hit Australia in May, priced from $35,600 (plus on-roads), the carmaker has confirmed today.
The news means that Audi has moved to match the entry price of the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class, and cut $3500 from the price of the current A3 (excluding the brand's current runout rebate offer).
The 2013 A3 range will kick off in Australia with the Attraction trim grade, powered in petrol form by Audi's 90kW/200Nm 1.4 litre TFSI engine, mated to the S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Merc's entry A 180 hatch also offers a 90kW/200Nm petrol engine - this one a 1.6 litre unit - and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. (See A-Class launch review.)
