Our drive this week sees us depart from Melbourne along the M1 motorway, but our real journey begins in Birregurra – just two hours from our starting point.
As you turn off the highway, be sure to keep an eye out for wildlife as Birregurra means 'Kangaroo Camp' in the first nation's language.
In Birregurra, we made our first pit stop to soak up the magnificent surroundings at Brae – one of Victoria’s premium dining destinations.
The trip to Forrest is through the countryside with rolling hills in the distance and smooth stretches of tarmac.
It’s only 20 minutes of easy cruising.
We made another stop here at Platypi Chocolate before hitting the road for one of the best stints of the journey. This route offers not only stunning landscape but is also full of tight hairpins and sweeping bends.
With Sport+ mode activated and paddle shifters getting a real workout, it’s a really fun and fulfilling stretch, plus you'll find there is very little traffic.
Make a right onto the Great Ocean Road and you’ll enjoy one of the greatest parts of the iconic touring drive.
The Great Ocean Road clutches seaside cliffs that meander along the windswept Southern Ocean. This particular run offers some of the most incredible views, and while we got held up a few times by slow-moving vehicles, it didn’t take away from the drive itself.
