Volvo’s Simply Brilliant Inflatable Child Seat Concept: Video

Volvo has created what appears to be the world’s first rearward facing inflatable child seat.

Technology borrowed from the military - a drop-stitched fabric that can be inflated to high pressures - has allowed Volvo to develop a child seat that is just as safe as the non-inflatable types currently on the market.

When needed and at the push of a button, a silent built-in pump inflates the seat in less than 40 seconds. Deflating is handled by the same pump.
