Volvo has taken to social media to continue the teaser campaign for the incoming V90 Cross Country.
The carmaker has ‘pinned’ (featured) a tweet showing the new model under wraps, attaching the slogan “adventure that knows no limits - yours to own soon”.
Beyond that, as you might expect, Volvo is saying nothing.
However, it’s not unfair for buyers to presume that the newest Cross Country model from Volvo will follow the pathway forged by others.
To that end, the V90 will likely sport a more rugged look with underbody protection and wheel arch cladding, along with rugged bumpers and, most importantly, a raised ride-height.
Volvo has front-wheel-drive models in its V40 Cross Country range, but the V90 is said to be an AWD-only affair, built upon Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture.
Expect engine and transmission combinations to match at least some of those on offer in the regular V90, such as the twin-charged T6 petrol and D5 twin-turbo diesel, although Volvo is yet to confirm any drivetrain specifications.
At the premium end of the market, Audi’s Allroad models in both A6 and A4 guise along with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class All Terrain offer alternatives for buyers, while the likes of Skoda’s Octavia Scout and Volkswagen’s Passat Alltrack are more affordable options.
The 2017 Volvo V90 Cross Country is set for an official debut at the Paris Motor Show (or in the lead-up). Stay tuned to TMR for more.
