Volvo Car Australia and The Formula Company have partnered on a new driver training program at the Sydney Motorsport Park.

The program promises a systematic approach to driver training, balancing skill-based training with risk management, decision making, and practical learning.

Focusing on a new learning framework pioneered by UK writer and 'Mind Driving: New Skills for Staying Alive on the Road' author Stephan Haley, the course offers instruction from police, corporate and vocational teaching specialists.

Volvo has provided a fleet of seven C30 and S60 cars for the program, with a view to demonstrating each model's active and passive safety features, including stability control, ABS, and City Safety pedestrian safety and crash avoidance systems.

"Not only is it an opportunity to showcase our technologies to a younger demographic in a skills-based environment, it's also an opportunity to have a bit of fun with some of our high performance models, like the S60 Polestar", Volvo Car Australia boss Matt Braid said.

The program is open to all drivers with at least a Learner’s Permit, and will use the purpose built Sydney Motorsport Park wet/dry skidpan facility.
