Volvo has released a short new clip today, teasing the coming of a new entry in its range of Polestar-enhanced performance models.

Visuals in the video are limited to a wind-tunnel exercise hinting at the profile of the new model, although the clip does offer a good 40 seconds of aural delight.

The identity of the new model is unclear, but it is known that Polestar versions of the V60 wagon and the new V40 hatch are on the table.

A V60 companion to the 257kW S60 Polestar would seem an obvious leap, although Polestar boss Haans Baath has made no secret of his desire for a V40 Polestar.

Speaking with press earlier this year, Baath said the Australian-only S60 Polestar could soon go international, and that a V40 model would ideally follow.

Even earlier, in 2012, Volvo UK boss Nick Connor told press that a V40 Polestar model will arrive in 2013, offering all-wheel-drive and "at least" 10 percent more power than the 187kW T5 model.

In its current Australian-market guise, the V40's top model is the T5 R-Design, powered by a 187kW turbocharged 2.5 litre four-cylinder engine.

Watch for Polestar to reveal its new project on November 26.
