Volvo has introduced its new 'Selekt' used-car programme in Australia this week.

It joins a growing number of carmakers recognising the value to the brand in carefully selected used cars, and the value to dealers in being able to provide a higher level of assurance to customers.

Available only at accredited and authorised Volvo dealers, all cars sold through Volvo Selekt are no more than five-years-old from the first date of registration, and all have travelled less than 100,000km.

A full service history is provided with each car, carried out by an authorised Volvo dealer.

Each car has also had a 125-point vehicle inspection carried out by a Volvo dealer, and all relevant repairs are made before the  vehicle is offered for sale.

A 12-month unlimited-kilometres warranty is standard with each car sold under the Volvo Selekt programme (three months warranty is required by law).

All software used by the car's electronic systems are also updated to the latest versions.

It is well-recognised that there is a large block of buyers who will never buy new, but demand high standards in their vehicle purchasing, both in the quality of the vehicle, the quality of service and 'factory' back-up.

A well-run used car lot, with carefully selected vehicles, can be as important to consumer perceptions of the brand as it is to the profitability of the new car dealership.

For buyers, it also, as Volvo claims, "takes the guesswork out of buying a used Volvo".
