Volkswagen has released a single teaser image of an all-new van concept, one size down from the Transporter and driven purely by electricity.

Bound for this week's Geneva Motor Show, the e-Co-Motion offers a glimpse at a potential new production model, while previewing the styling of Volkswagen's next-generation commercial range.

The e-Co-Motion concept measures 4550mm long, placing it between the 4405mm Caddy van and the big 5290mm short-wheelbase Transporter.

The carmaker promises a cargo capacity of 800kg, and 4.6m3 in space, thanks in part to an extra-low positioning of the drive unit, battery and transmission.

Volkswagen hasn't revealed any technical details yet, with specifics on the motor, battery, power and driving range still to be confirmed.

The e-Co-Motion isn't the first all-electric van to be revealed by Volkswagen, with 2011's eT! concept revealing a similar future-previewing design and powertrain.
