Volkswagen has partnered with the legendary Fender brand to produce a guitar-inspired version of the new Beetle small car.
Revealed as a concept at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, a new production-ready Fender Edition has debuted at this week's Auto Mobil Show in Leipzig, Germany.
Based on the 150kW and 280Nm turbocharged 2.0 litre model, the Beetle Fender picks up a number of styling tweaks, including a two-tone 'Sunburst' wood dash, chromed Fender logo and a unique seat trim.
However, the highlight in the cabin is the audio system: a 400W Fender package with a 10-channel amplifier, nine speakers, a subwoofer and four 'deluxe' tweeters.
On the outside, there's a Deep Black metallic finish, 18-inch Disc alloy wheels, chromed mirror caps and Fender badges.
Each car will also come with three limited-edition Fender guitar picks (but no guitar).
Australia
Put your wallets away, the Beetle Fender Edition will be limited to select left-hand-drive markets.
As for the regular Beetle, we can expect to see an Australian debut towards the end of this year.
