Volkswagen has added a limited-edition 'Runner' variant to its Caddy and Transporter vans, creating a new entry-level point for both ranges.

Limited to 200 and 350 units respectively, ‘Runner’ models are fitted with unique heavy-duty trim material and ‘Runner’ badging.

Runners are otherwise identical in spec to existing entry models, but carry reduced drive-away prices of $19,990 for the Caddy Van Runner, and  $29,990 for the Transporter Runner.

These represent significant price cuts, with a saving of $2000 over the regular Caddy Van Trendline and $6750 on the regular Transporter Van.

Runner models’ drive-away pricing represents further value, negating the statutory and delivery charges attached to regular models.

Like regular Caddy and Transporters, Runner models are equipped with ESP, hill hold control, air conditioning and daytime running lights.

Caddy Van Runners are equipped with the 1.2 litre 63kW TSI 160 turbocharged petrol engine, with an 800kg payload.

Transporter Runners are fitted with the 2.0 litre 75kW TDI 250 turbodiesel, and boast a 1149kg payload.

Volkswagen Australia has today confirmed that the limited-number Runner models are available in dealerships now.
