Old British favourite TVR is back on the job, with the reborn Austrian-based outfit rejuvenating second-hand models with new hearts and new parts.

Taking a leaf out of Nissan's Skyline GT-R Z-Tune programme, TVR has sourced used examples of its most recent offerings, updating them with General Motors' 6.2 litre LS3 V8 engine (you've seen this one in the HSV range), producing 317kW and 575Nm of torque.

No new models are planned, meaning that for now, choices are limited to the Sagaris, Tuscan convertible, Tuscan MkII, Cerbera, Chimaera and Griffith.

The new deal might not be what TVR fans were hoping for after Russian businessman Nikolay Smolensky bought the ailing brand in 2004, but it should offer some glimmer of hope for a brighter future.

TVR founder Trevor Wilkinson passed away in 2008, aged 85.
