Toyota’s 86 coupe and incoming Supra rebirth could be the beginning of a new range of sports cars for the Japanese carmaker.

Industry paper Automotive News reports Toyota is considering its own version of the likes of BMW’s M Division, Mercedes-AMG models or the new Hyundai N program.

No names have been thrown around, nor a timeline of models set to be transformed, but the current Toyota Racing Development (TRD ) program could be the springboard.

An anonymous source reportedly said a “new sports car series” would debut at an event in Japan next month, but stopped short of providing finer details.
