Tesla founder Elon Musk has, as promised last week, at last shown the world his ‘D’. 'Dual-Motor', that is.

The new Tesla Model S P85D was unveiled in the US today as an all-wheel-drive version of the top-shelf Model S P85 sedan. (Read TMR’s review here.)

That all-paw upgrade isn’t all about enhanced safety, though. Tesla says the P85D will hit 60mph (96km/h) in just 3.2 seconds, making it a full second quicker than the already BMW M5-rivalling rear-wheel-drive Model S P85.

In fact, that time makes the P85D quicker than Dodge’s new 527kW Charger SRT Hellcat, which claims a 0-60mph time of 3.7 seconds.
