The official unveiling of Tesla's upcoming Model X SUV is less than two weeks away. Today, the American EV brand has released a single teaser image.

The teaser image reveals little, although it is clear that the the all-electric SUV will feature the same flowing design language worn by the upcoming Model S sedan.

Set for a February 9 (February 10 in Australia) unveiling at Tesla's California design studio, the Model X will also get a live unveiling on the company's website.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed the debut on his Twitter page this week, adding: "Most cars are pretty blah. This is not".

Thanks to the simplified design and the small number of moving parts in Tesla's electric-only platform, the Model X will share its underpinnings with the Model S.

The Model X is scheduled to make its production debut in late 2013 - more than a year after the upcoming July debut of the smaller Model S.

Tesla has confirmed that it expects to produce around 15,000 cars each year from 2013 - with an ultimate goal of 500,000 vehicles across the range - Model S, Model X and next-gen Roadster.
