Suzuki has kicked off 2017 by kicking one of its models off the availability list for customers in Australia.

The midsized Kizashi sedan will be discontinued once existing stocks are gone, and almost all of the remainder were sold last month to round out 2016.

The change means the Baleno is now Suzuki’s largest passenger car on sale in Australia, with the relative newcomer to the local range straddling the light and small car segments.

More space is available to those willing to step up to the Grand Vitara off-roader, while Suzuki’s other models in Australia include the Swift, Celerio, APV, Vitara, S-Cross and Jimny Sierra.

The Kizashi in its current form carried the baton through its six years on the Australian market.

Minor updates along the way kept the model fresh, but styling remained relatively unchanged throughout its local life.

As stocks dwindled during runout, Kizashi sales fell from 119 in 2015 to 35 to the end of November last year - down 70 percent on the same time in 2015.

Suzuki has made no mention of a replacement for the Kizashi in Australia, preferring instead to concentrate on its range of small cars and SUVs.
