Skoda is developing a conventional hatchback version of its new Rapid hatch, according to a new report.

UK mag Autocar report that the new model will feature more Golf-like rear proportions than the Rapid’s sedan-like notchback profile.

This suggests the new car could form a production version of the VisionD concept shown at Geneva last year.

The VisionD preceded the Frankfurt-unveiled Mission L concept that directly previewed the soon-to-be launched Rapid production car.

However, the Czech manufacturer’s sales and marketing boss Jürgen Stackmann has dispelled talk of a direct production route for the VisionD.

“Its not that car”, Stackmann told Autocar.
