Renault Alpine Styling ‘Complete’, On Track For 2016 Debut: Report

Another chapter in the ongoing Renault Alpine sports car story is complete, with senior Renault men Laurens van den Acker and Patrice Ratti reportedly confirming the new coupe's design is all but done.

Speaking with the UK’s Autocar, Mr van den Acker said that delays caused by the now-dead Renault-Caterham alliance have been sorted, and that the final design has been signed off.

“[Renault-Nissan boss] Carlos Ghosn has seen the car, and he’s happy,” Mr van den Acker said.

But whatever design Ghosn witnessed looks nothing like the now-familiar A110-50 concept from the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed, according to Mr Ratti from Renault Sport.

Ratti said the new model was “more about driving pleasure than pure power”, with the first test mules expected to hit the road soon.

Spy photographers will no doubt be keen to capture images of those test vehicles, hopefully confirming a comment from Alpine CEO Bernard Ollivier who reportedly said "when you see the car, you'll be impressed - [you] want it to be already in the street”.
