Nissan has recalled its Micra city car this week, with the model becoming the latest to join the long list from the Takata airbag saga.

As with other Takata examples, the metal casing surrounding the airbag’s inflator can crack if the airbag is deployed, potentially injuring front seat passengers.

A total of 12,859 locally-sold Micras are affected by the recall - built between September 2010 and October 2011 - and Nissan expects to begin repairs next month.

Audi has also issued a recall over airbag issues targeting 6716 examples of its A4 range, with the German carmaker saying the front airbags may not inflate correctly during a collision.

Meanwhile, Lotus has recalled several of its Evora S, Elise and Exige models. In some examples, oil cooler hoses can leak resulting in a potential fire hazard.
