A rare racing car with an important Australian history has been stolen from its home in the Melbourne suburb of Knoxfield.

The racer, a Hardman JH-1 Historic Australian Formula 2 car owned by Rohan Carrig, is number two of three built - and the only remaining one.

Built in 1980, the JH-1 had competed in AF2 until 1998 before being rebuilt in 2005 when it again took to the track to compete in Historic Group R.

On August 20 this year, the car was stolen, still in its trailer. The trailer has since turned up in the Officer area, but the car and parts, including a spare engine, are still missing.

If an alert TMR reader happens to spot the very distinctive racer, pictured above, they should report any sighting to the police (via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000).
