Victoria's RACV has teamed with Queensland counterpart RACQ to bring the GreenZone Drive event to the Sunshine Coast.

Running from August 10-13, GreenZone Drive is a exhibition and demonstration of low and zero emissions cars.

Available for a test drive will be the greenest offerings from Audi, BMW, Honda, Nissan, Renault, Toyota and Volvo.

BMW will present the as-yet unreleased ActiveHybrid 5 Series, while Renault will bring along the upcoming Fluence Z.E. electric sedan.

Cars already released include the Nissan Leaf, Toyota Prius c, Honda CR-Z, Audi A1 Sportback and the Audi A4. Volvo is bringing the V60 D3 and C30 DRIVe.

The Queensland event follows two successful shows in Melbourne and one in Adelaide, with the intention that the show will run annually, in Melbourne at least.

The RACQ said that in Queensland alone, 1047 hybrid vehicles were sold to private buyers and fleets, a 33.5 percent increase over the previous financial year.

"Hybrids not only have lower exhaust emissions, but they can save you a lot of hard earned money when it comes to fuel consumption," RACQ's Genevieve Graves said.

The GreenZone Drive runs from 10-13 August at RACV Royal Pines on the Gold Coast. Bookings can be made at http://www.greenzonedrive.com.au or you can visit the Royal Pines during the event and test drive a car while you're there.
