The idea of a ‘mega dealer’ for car buyers is about to take on a new meaning, if developers in Brisbane have their way.

A new ‘Auto Mall’ has been proposed for the city’s busy international airport, and it includes a 2.5km test track designed by Mark Skaife.

Set on 50 hectares, the facility would boast dealers, office space, workshops and retail stores, along with the private test track.

Described as an Australian first, Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC)’s Julie-Anne Alroe said the airport was the perfect location for such a project, offering flexibility and proximity to Brisbane’s Central Business District.

Skaife said he believed the test track would give Auto Mall a point of difference, and that dealers would have a better chance of demonstrating some of the key features of their products away from public roads.
