Isuzu has issued a recall for its MU-X 4WD in Australia this week, due to a potential problem with the fuel tank.
The carmaker has identified an issue with the fuel tank’s securing band bolts, which may not have been tightened to specification as the vehicle was manufactured.
Over time, the tank may work its way loose, causing a fuel leak. In extreme circumstances, this could pose a fire hazard.
Just 12 MU-Xs from the ‘2015.5’ model-year are on the recall list in Australia, built over a one-week period in April this year. Of those, not all will be affected by this issue.
The recall process will see the tank and tank band inspected, while the offending bolts will be tightened to the correct torque setting.
Isuzu Ute Australia has already reached out to the 12 affected owners, but if any owner wishes to learn more about the latest round of recalls, they should contact their local dealer.
