New Citroen C Models Will Be Cheaper But Bolder: Report

Citroen’s next generation of 'C-line' models are expected to kick off with a replacement for the current C3, and, if reports out of Europe are to be believed, Citroen's 2007 C-Cactus concept could be a preview of what's to come.

Citroen’s next generation of 'C-line' models are expected to kick off with a replacement for the current C3, and, if reports out of Europe are to be believed, Citroen's 2007 C-Cactus concept could be a preview of what's to come.

It could appear soon. Britain's Autocar magazine reports that Citroen boss Fredereric Banzet has confirmed a debut for the new C3 within the next 12 months.

With its new C models (C3, C4, C5), the carmaker is understood to be targeting buyers-on-a-budget, while the DS range - and sister brand Peugeot - will go further upmarket.

But, while the C range will embrace affordability, talk of the C-Cactus as inspiration suggests the carmaker will be looking to win buyers over not only with cost, but also with bold styling.

Of course, exactly what styling elements of the nutty out-there C-Cactus find their way into the lines of the new C3 is unclear.

Watch for news of the next C model to appear in the coming months.
