Australia is on track to break its all-time record for new vehicle sales in a calendar year, with another strong showing from the market in November.

VFACTS reveals sales have now topped the one-million mark with one survey remaining, following 98,639 new registrations last month.

That figure saw sales rise 6.9 percent on November last year, and the overall sales-tally now sits on 1,055,792 compared with 1,016,415 at the same time last year (up 3.9 percent).

The previous record was set in 2013, when 1,136,227 vehicles were sold.

Back then, Toyota topped the sales charts for the year with 214,630 units; the Japanese carmaker needs another 29,612 sales in December to eclipse that total.
