New Astra Wagon Unveiled Ahead Of Frankfurt Motor Show

General Motors has pulled the covers from its new European-market Astra wagon on the eve of the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The new wagon - or 'Sports Tourer' - will variously wear Vauxhall or Opel badges, depending upon the market.

The wagon unveiling follows an early June debut for the new Astra hatch;  both models will be on sale in Europe before the end of the northern autumn.

GM’s headline improvements for the new Astra wagon include a sizable weight-loss of 200kg over the outgoing model, with exterior dimensions that match its predecessor.
