Another day, another arcade racer; and that's just the way we like it. This time, it's the latest instalment in Electronic Arts' Need For Speed franchise.

Dubbed Need For Speed: Most Wanted, the new chapter follows in the footsteps of the 2005 game of the same name, while evolving the succesful formula.

While the first game was developed by EA's Canadian arm, this latest version is the work of British outfit Criterion Games, known for its work on the top-selling Burnout series.

Moving away from the Fast And The Furious movie vibe of the first game (just as the movie series is moving away from its own roots), the new Most Wanted game features the world's finest sports cars in their most pure form.

As before, the game's stars - and you, as the story's protagonist - will be hunted by the boys in blue, forcing you to take on not only your street-racing rivals, but also speed traps and road blocks galore.

Like its predecessor, 2012's NFS Most Wanted game offers an 'open world' platform, allowing you to explore full cities, with access to highways, back alleys, car parks and construction sites.

Criterion's Need For Speed will hit the international console arena in November 2012.
