Mitsubishi’s false fuel figure debacle may yet reach further into the carmaker’s past and model range.

Industry paper Automotive News reports that Mitsubishi has conceded that anomalies may exist with fuel economy numbers on other models.

Last month, Mitsubishi admitted that four ‘kei’ car models sold in Japan carried false claims for fuel economy due to testing regimes that did not comply with Japanese standards. It also then began looking deeper into its model range and testing procedures, conceding that other models for both the Japanese and export markets may also be affected.

The four models named were Mitsubishi’s eK Wagon and eK Space (pictured, below), plus the Nissan Dayz and Dayz Roox, built by Mitsubishi for Nissan.

Now, the carmaker has revealed that up to nine other Mitsubishi models may also be claiming false fuel figures, although some models included in this list are no longer part of the new-car range.

Mitsubishi is cooperating with Japanese authorities, and was subject to a ‘raid’ by transport officials seeking data on the testing regime.
