Following its debut in concept form at the Paris Motor Show, the Mercedes-Benz Generation EQ is headed for the production line.
While the EQ name will remain, Benz has not placed any other tags on its new model, but reports suggest the concept will morph further into an SUV shape before it arrives in showroom.
A GLC-sized model is believed to be first out of the blocks, and the German carmaker is expected to use the new all-electric SUV to kick start the all-electric sub-brand.
Mercedes-EQ will join Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes-AMG, with EQ set to rival BMW’s i range and basically anything with wheels from Tesla.
Further, the EQ brand is itself a ‘sub-project’ under the CASE strategy from Mercedes, which stands for Connected, Autonomous, Shared and Services, Electric drive.
