Mazda has broken its silence regarding the spied and speculated production version of last year’s Koeru concept.

To wear the Mazda CX-4 nametag, the new SUV will share its 2700mm wheelbase and basic underpinnings with the more practical CX-5, but offer a more style-focussed body that mirrors the fastback looks of the Mazda3.

Apart from a shadowy teaser image, and a promise of Mazda’s ‘Jinba-ittai’ driving enjoyment, the CX-4 announcement offers little else in the way of firm details. To really re-inforce the driving enjoyment message, the CX-4 will share its show stand with Chinese Touring Car Championship-prepared versions of the Mazda3 and Mazda6.
