Infiniti will demonstrate its range-extended electric Emerg-E concept for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK later this month.

With an electric-petrol system similar in concept to the upcoming Holden Volt, the Emerg-E uses two electric motors - each driving a rear wheel - with a three cylinder petrol engine generating range-extending electric charge.
The show car’s Lotus Evora-derived chassis is no secret; Infiniti is expected to produce a handful of functioning prototypes for demonstration purposes.
Australian Red Bull F1 driver Mark Webber is set to pilot the Emerg-E at Goodwood, as part of Infiniti’s sponsorship of the team.
Speaking with TMR recently, Infiniti Australia boss Kevin Snell stated that the Emerg-E concept was indicative of the brand’s future direction, but a production future and any further Lotus involvement is yet to be confirmed.
Infiniti will also use Goodwood to demonstrate the Vettel Edition of its FX SUV, driven by its namesake Red Bull F1 driver Sebastian Vettel.
The FX Vettel Edition will be limited to 50 units, and priced at the equivalent of AU$156,000 - nearly double the UK price of the FX50 on which it is based.
Rounding out Infiniti’s Goodwood presence will be the M35h hybrid saloon, demonstrating its Guinness-certified world’s fastest full-hybrid performance.
The 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed will run from June 28th until July 1st.
