UK-based Lyonheart is all set to put into production its beautiful 21st century interpretation of the Jaguar E-Type.

Built just a few miles from Jaguar's own factory on the opposite side of Coventry, the Lyonheart K roadster and hardtop will start rolling off the line late this year.

The sleek machine is propelled by a 5.0 litre Cosworth V8 with a thumping 430kW and 700Nm of torque. The supercharged unit is fitted with a six-speed ZF automatic.

The company's official website says the K will reach an electronically limited 300km/h and, depending on the model you choose, will reach 100km/h in between 3.7 and 3.9 seconds.

The combined fuel economy figure on the Euro cycle is quoted at an impressive 11.9l/100km.

The chassis is all-aluminium, but Lyonheart hasn't yet revealed a kerb weight. It's likely to be under two tonnes, even when weighed down by a sumptuous leather and wood appointed interior.

The panels are aluminium too, shaped by a process called superforming where the sheetmetal is heated and then forced into shape using air pressure.
