Lotus is in the middle of transitioning to its new owner DRB-Hicom, which bought Proton from the Malaysian Government in January. No cause for alarm, however: the British brand is pushing on with new models.

For next month's Geneva Motor Show, Lotus has confirmed it will debut a new model. It hasn't revealed any details, but this teaser offers a strong hint: the new car will "blow the roof off" the event.

Other hints in the press release included "something breezy, something loud, something ice-cold, and some other interesting elements".

So a convertible appears likely, although it's unclear which model will get the topless treatment. If it's a car in the current line-up, the Evora is the obvious choice.

The future Lotus Elite has already been revealed as a roadster, so while that one is off the cards, we could also see a droptop version of the new Elan, Esprit or Elise

As for the much-hyped plan within Lotus to find a new buyer for the brand, it appears that a vote of confidence from DRB-Hicom has put those talks to bed.

“We have explained our plants to the new owner and have been told to keep going as we are," Lotus CEO Dany Bahar was quoted this week by British magazine Autocar.

"To the best of my knowledge, no one is about to buy the company."

Bahar added that testing of the company's new transmission is underway, and its new V8 engine will go into shakedown testing in the coming months.
