Lotus has confirmed the overseas release of its new Evora GX race car this week, giving teams another option for the new GX class in North America's Rolex Series GT.

Power for the GX is provided by the familiar Cosworth-enhanced 4.0 litre V6 engine, producing 328kW and 440Nm of torque and mated to a six-speed sequential transmission.

Like the Evora GTC, the GX picks up carbon-fibre doors, roof and engine cover, replacing the SMC and RTM composite panels on the previous GT4 Enduro car.

Plexiglass also replaces the polycarbonate windows, further trimming the racer's weight - and with the beefier rollcages of the Rolex series, the GX is already 10kg heavier than the 1140kg GTC.

The GX also gets a new front bumper and splitter combo, along with wide wheels and arches and the standard Rolex Series rear wing.

ABS and traction control have been removed, a requirement of the series' rules.

The Evora GX is available to teams attacking the Rolex Series, built to order and priced from US$335,000.
