The current Lexus GS range has moved a step closer to retirement today, with news that Toyota's luxury devision will unveil the LF-Gh concept at next month's New York Auto Show.

Lexus has revealed little about the LF-Gh concept at this stage, although its name offers a few hints. As with most Lexus concepts, 'LF' is known to represent the term "Lexus Future," while 'h' represents the brand's hybrid drivetrains.

Following this pattern, it is likely that 'G' represents the mid-size GS line-up.

Lexus itself has pushed a similar line today, with a post on its Twitter page that reads simply “LF-Gh: LF = Lexus Future. h = hybrid. G = ...”

Launched in 2005, the third-generation Lexus GS is available in Australia with three engine options: a 3.0 litre petrol V6, a 3.5 litre V6 petrol/hybrid model and the range-topping 4.6 litre petrol V8.

Nothing concrete has escaped about the styling of the new GS, but we can expect to see some design cues taken from the company's latest offering, the upcoming CT 200h.

Lexus will reveal the LF-Gh concept on April 19 in New York.
