Lexus has revealed its Paris-bound LF-CC (Coupe Concept) this week, powered by an all-new 2.5 litre four-cylinder engine and hybrid system.

Like  the LF-Gh before it, this sleek coupe marks the first look at a new production model. Where the LF-Gh became the new GS, Lexus says the LF-CC will become a new mid-sized coupe.

It is also clear that this new concept offers a first look at the new IS sedan, although it is too early to know if the coupe will slot into a wider IS range.

Picking up cues both from the new GS and from the recent LF-LC sports concept, the LF-CC represents a clear evolution of luxury marque's L-Finesse styling language.

As the LF-CC transitions to its production future, expect a general softening of that huge grille and side-intake combo, while the integrated lights at both ends will make way for more conventional units.

Watch for the new hybrid drivetrain to figure in both the coupe and IS sedan, however. Equipped with D4-S direct and port injection, the new Atkinson cycle engine is mated to an electric motor.

Exact power, performance and fuel figures are still to be revealed, although Lexus says it is targeting CO2 emissions below 100g/km.

The carmaker also promises "more than" 1.47kW of power per gram of CO2, suggesting a power figure of around 150kW for the hybrid drivetrain.
