Lexus CT 200h To Use Prius Platform – Set For 2017 Debut: Report

The second generation of Lexus’ hybrid-only CT 200h could follow closely in the wheel tracks of another hybrid-only Toyota model, according to reports out of Europe.

Autovisie from The Netherlands quotes an unnamed senior Toyota source and claims the all-new Prius’ underpinnings - the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) - will form the basis of the next CT.

The fourth generation Toyota Prius made its official debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, with thermal efficiency gains being the headline improvement.

Power for the Prius still comes from a petrol-electric hybrid system matched with a CVT automatic, with petrol-power coming from a 1.8 litre four-cylinder engine.
