Land Rover has added two new turbocharged petrol engines for two key models - the Land Rover Discovery Sport and the Range Rover Evoque.
The British brand will introduce the new Ingenium engines for the 2018 model-year, which are due to arrive in Australian showrooms at the end of 2017.
The new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engines will be known as the Si4 and come in two different states of tunes - 177kW/340Nm and 213kW/400Nm. The latter will be the most powerful engine offered in both models to date.
The company hasn't released fuel consumption figures for the 213kW engine but the 177kW version uses 7.3 l/100km and Land Rover claims it is 15 percent more efficient than the engine it replaces.
Models fitted with the 213kW Si4 engine will get a dynamic bodykit as standard. The brand claims the engine can launch the SUVs from 0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds.
But the petrol engines aren't the only new additions to the 2018 models, with a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine also joining the Ingenium family. The new Sd4, as it will be badged, produces 177kW and 500Nm.
Land Rover hasn't released prices for the new models but has confirmed the 2018 range will be priced from $56,595 (plus on-road costs) for the Discovery Sport SE TD4150 and $59,690 (plus on-roads) for the Evoque Pure Td4150.
