Kia GT Revealed Further, Rio Three-door Headed For Frankfurt

Kia has released a raft of new images for its new GT Concept, ahead of its unveiling at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in the coming hours.

Details of the GT's engine remain a secret for now, although reports out of Europe suggest a fire-breathing turbocharged V6 engine resides beneath the four-door coupe's expansive bonnet.

Kia isn't saying, but power figures are expected to fall just shy of 300kW and 540Nm of torque.

For now, all that is known for certain is that the GT Concept is built on a rear-wheel-drive platform and, if Kia design boss Peter Schreyer gets his way, it could eventually make it to the showroom floor.

“One of the great things about working on this project was that this is a very real car. It felt good to be working on a car that could roll down the road tomorrow,"  Schreyer said. 

"Yes, it would be a dream to put this into production – it has a logical layout, with four seats, and good luggage space, and it’s also engaging and dynamic and makes a strong statement.  It’s exactly the kind of car Kia should be making.”

2012 Kia Rio Three-door Confirmed For Frankfurt

Kia has also confirmed that its sporty new Rio range will get one final addition this week, with a Frankfurt unveiling locked in for the 2012 Rio three-door.

The three-door Rio will make its Australian sales debut in early 2012, along with the new four-door sedan.
