Italian design outfit Icona has unveiled its new Vulcano concept in Shanghai, following the release of a single teaser image over the weekend.

Chief designer Frenchman Samuel Chuffart, who has previously worked with the likes of Bertone, Jaguar and Nissan, was also responsible for the Icona Fuselage concept car in 2011.

A true supercar, the Vulcano is driven by a front-mounted V12 engine mated to an electric system, producing a combined 670kW, according to Icona.

With power sent to the rear wheels, Icona claims a 0-200km/h time below 10 seconds, and a neck-snapping 0-100km/h time of less than 2.0 seconds.

The V12 is the work of Italian engineer Claudio Lombardi who has overseen successful power plants for Lancia and Ferrari motorsport programs in the past.
