Hyundai has announced availability of a tougher new towing kit for the Australian-delivered Santa Fe range, increasing the big wagon's down-ball rating.

Available from dealers for the past few weeks, announcement of the kit follows the introduction of a similar package from Korean sister company Kia, upgrading the new Sorento's rating.

As with the Sorento, Hyundai's 'Load Assist Kit' boosts the Santa Fe's down-ball rating from 120 to 150kg, thanks to new heavy duty springs at the rear.

Hyundai says the kit was developed to complement the Santa Fe's Australian-tuned ride and handling package, and can also be fitted to new Santa Fe wagons already equipped with the standard towing package.

Maximum braked towing capacity remains unchanged at 2000kg with the automatic transmission, and 2500kg for models equipped with the six-speed manual.

Pricing

  • Towbar, Towball & Trailer Wiring Harness: $772.50
  • Load Assist Kit (Springs): $187.00

Note: Prices include GST but exclude the cost of fitting.
