Honda has announced that the newest variant in its Odyssey people-mover range will be launched next month, but Japan will be the only market to see it (for now).

The new model is the Odyssey Hybrid - revealed last year and powered by Honda’s “Sport Hybrid I-MMD” (Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive) system which makes its first appearance in the Odyssey range.

Honda says the I-MMD system provides “outstanding environmental performance and the powerful acceleration of an electric motor”.

The all-important fuel figure for the Odyssey Hybrid is 3.8 l/100km, which Honda claims is 'best-in-class' for a seven- or eight-seater 2.0 litre vehicle excluding plug-in hybrids.
