Fans will not be shocked to learn that the hatch in Euro spec largely mirrors that of the US-spec model, with the main difference being a change in lighting to depart from US regulations for amber indicators.
The Euro Civic follows just a month after the US model was unveiled via a set of Honda official photos, with both models out in the open around six months ahead of the Civic Hatch’s Australian arrival.
Honda has taken the opportunity to introduce buyers to a new paint finish for the Civic, along with a new set of alloy wheels.
The carmaker declared earlier this month that the Civic has headed to Paris, and now technical details for the Euro market have also been revealed.
Overseas buyers will have the choice of two turbocharged petrol engines along with a turbo-diesel, with power outputs ranging from 89kW in the 1.6 litre four-cylinder diesel to 134kW for the 1.5 litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
A 1.0 litre, three-cylinder petrol engine will also be on offer, and both petrol engines are available with six-speed manual or CVT automatic transmissions.
For Australia, the diesel seems an unlikely starter while the 1.5 and 1.8 litre petrol engines offered with the Civic Sedan are probable options for the Civic Hatch.
The Civic like many other all-new models has grown in this latest generation - now 30mm wider and 130mm longer than its predecessor. However, the overall height has shrunk 20mm and weight in the new platform is down by 16kg.
Honda says the new platform’s torsional rigidity has improved by 52 percent over the old underpinnings, while the body is 41 percent stiffer.
Honda Australia will release further details about the Civic Hatch closer to launch.
