Holden To Recall Over 50,000 Vehicles For Potential Brake Issue

Over 50,000 Korean-built Holden models are being recalled due to a potential electronic brake module fault.

The issue, raised with Holden by GM's Korean arm, can result in spongy brake pedal feel and reduced braking performance.

The recall includes 27,778 Captiva SUVs, 11,692 Viva small cars, 8,195 Barina light cars, and 3,723 Epica mid-size sedans.

Holden has elected to undertake the precautionary recall, despite there being no local reported instances of the problem to date.

Owners of the potentially affected vehicles will be contacted directly by Holden, and invited to arrange an inspection of their vehicle.

Brake control modules found to carry the fault will be replaced, free of charge.

This news follows a Holden recall in June of 9,547 locally produced 1.4 litre Cruze models, aimed at correcting a post-service oil residue fire risk.
